Reblooming Lilacs!
A
few years ago, there came on the market a fabulous new type of lilac
called Bloomerang. It blooms in the spring and again from midsummer to
frost. It’s small habit fits into any garden with a sunny spot. All
lilacs love heat, sun and once established can be drought tolerant. Top
dress with lime (applied at the drip line) once yearly in early spring
and feed with a low nitrogen fertilizer in spring. They are not heavy
feeders so don’t go overboard. Prune lightly after blooming to maintain a
nice shape. Bloomerangs will attract hummingbirds and blooms can be cut
and enjoyed indoors. There is nothing like the unique, sweet scent of
the lovely lilac!
